About Turtle Beach

Turtle Beach is located in Sarasota, Florida. The name “Turtle Beach” comes from all the sea turtle nests that can be found in the area. Turtle Beach isn’t only interesting because of sea turtles; it also has a lot to offer in the way of amenities. For instance, a rare amenity for a beach is free WiFi service, yet you can find it here. It’s nice to be able to sit on the beach and surf the web or play on your favorite social networking site. You can brag to your friends about your current location.

Other amenities at Turtle Beach are more expected. They include boat ramps as well as a kayak and canoe launch. If you choose to kayak, take a trip over to the Neville Marine Reserve. This is the most visited location by kayakers. It’s pure nature at its best. For an even more laidback experience, you can fish at Turtle Beach.

If you’re visiting with family, consider taking advantage of the picnic shelters. It’s great to have a home base for the day. This way, you can leave your stuff at the picnic shelter and go play on the beach. When it’s time to eat, you can use the provided grills. The kids will enjoy the playground just as much as the beach. The volleyball court is a popular choice for older kids or young adults. Then again, all ages are allowed to participate.

If you need a change of scenery, you can walk to the Sarasota Jungle Gardens. Siesta Key Watersports is also within walking distance. If you don’t mind taking a short drive, check out Oscar Scherer State Park, Edwards Islands Park, Vamo Road Park, Red Bug Preserve, Bay Preserve, Historic Spanish Point and/or Mary Thaxton Memorial Preserve.

If you fall in love with Turtle Beach as much as other people do, you can stay at the Turtle Beach campground and wake up to the sunrise over the water.
